Our prevention strategy

The Global Alliance Against Cholera accomplishes its objective by encouraging government and NGO agencies to assure effective removal of cholera bacteria before it is ingested. This can best be accomplished by providing potable water and sanitation infrastructure. Without the removal of water-borne disease vectors at this time, and in the future, the cycle of periodic epidemics will continue.

Une stratégie de prévention
This reality provides the Health and Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (W.A.S.H.) services Financing Agencies, with the opportunity of increasing their support for preventive measures. These measures of prevention will reduce and eventually eliminate the need for continuing cholera treatment expenditures. It is this paradigm shift in funding strategy that the G.A.A.C. seeks to encourage, initially for the targeted areas in the Democratic Republic of Congo and subsequently for the many other similarly affected countries.
