Juba, capital of South Sudan has an estimated population of 250 000 inhabitants. A first emergency response has been organized by Doctors Without Borders in order to reduce the death toll and slow down the spread of the disease. In this respect, some medics have been sent in Juba to verify if the patients have been well-treated in the treatment centers for cholera set up in Gudele.
Moreover, a new strategy to fight against cholera has been implemented by Doctors without Borders in order to make sure that the epidemic is well-monitored, to vaccinate and supply people with clean water and to inform the population about prevention methods and disinfection.
